the pov came from my having read through a bunch of manga which use pov so effectively. the goth theme came (oddly enough) from the images that come into my mind from "Dirk Gentley's holistic Detective Agency" (St. Cedd's College)

when there's an umbrella involved, you get more of a feeling of the protection it offers since, from this pov, the rain shadow provided by the unbrella expands as it descends.
to get the window into the scene, which is one of the few visible sources of light, i'd have to have the camera back too far to see the detailing of the character.
and the pov makes the scene looks as if there's more action than just a person posing in front of a building.

probably reminds you of a game since i got the idea for the camera angle from lots of exposure to manga, which so many games draw from. the simplicity of line in much manga leads to a interesting camera angles to maximize visual impact. and these days, many movies are drawing from games and in effect, they're drawing ideas indirectly from manga.
or at least, that's my thinking. i've been known to be wrong...
